Walla Walla Marathon

Despite the sharp pains in my left ankle, I was determined to run this race, and qualify for Marathon Maniacs. It was my second marathon, and until mile 20, I thought I was going to be ok. I had a thumb sized blood blister on my right foot, and 2 torn tendons and a torn muscle in my left ankle, although I didn’t know it at the time.

The weather was perfect. A bit overcast, and cool at the start, and it got a little warm after mile 16. To say that the last 6 miles were tough would be an understatement. I was miserable physically, but on cloud nine mentally! Between limping, walking, and trying to run a bit, I finally made it to the finish line, and found out I had placed 3rd in my age group of females. SWEET! Well, it pays to do the smaller races; the odds are so much more in your favor to place. :}
